Sexuality is a topic that makes many uncomfortable, yet it's an integral part of the human experience. You may have never had the foundation to discuss topics growing up. You may have been hushed or told to wait until you're mature enough, but then those conversations never arrived. Pop culture and "street smarts" may have replaced opportunities for information and awareness. Feeling judged or perceptions about marginalization may make you feel vulnerable to engage in certain topics. Many individuals may not know what should or can be discussed, so you're invited to a day of resources, community outreach, exhibits, art, music, and food.

SAFETY & SELF DEFENSE SEMINAR (HAPPENING!)
SATURDAY AUGUST 3, 2024
A Safety & Self-Defense seminar will be held at the Southbury Parks & Recreation Building in Southbury CT to help individuals improve their personal safety and raise money for Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury. For ages 16 plus.
Recognizing and avoiding potentially dangerous situations.
Know what we can do, what we should do, and what we should not do.
Learn about pepper sprays, personal alarms, and personal protection devices.
Utilize escapes from grabs and holds.
Learn about legal concerns, such as "Stand Your Ground" laws.
Find out about important things to do after a violent incident.
This is not a martial arts class – although there will be some fight science covered, but please wear loose fitting clothes.
A counselor will be available during the seminar for anyone who may be attending in response to a previous violent incident.
